In the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, Lisa Johnson has filed a class action lawsuit against Amazon.com Services, LLC. The case, with ID 1:24-cv-03208, was filed on April 22nd, 2024.

Johnson alleges that Amazon.com Services unlawfully collected and used her biometric data during her employment at their warehouse facility located at 2801 South Western Avenue, Chicago IL 60608. As part of the timekeeping and payroll process, employees were required to have their facial geometry scanned when clocking in and out of shifts. Johnson's legal counsel argues that this practice exposes employees to serious privacy risks as biometric data is unique and cannot be replaced if stolen or compromised.

The plaintiff seeks redress for Amazon.com Services' alleged unlawful collections, obtainments, use, storage, and disclosure of biometric identifiers and information. She is pursuing this case not only on her behalf but also on behalf of all others similarly situated.
