CTA sued after sudden bus acceleration causes passenger injury

The city's transit authority is facing a lawsuit from a passenger who claims she was injured aboard a bus.

Darnita Parker filed a lawsuit April 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Chicago Transit Authority, citing negligence.

The complaint states Parker was riding on CTA bus No. 29 traveling near State and 87th streets in Chicago on April 16, 2013, when the bus suddenly accelerated, causing the her to fall and to strike a pole.

Parker is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, plus costs, and is being represented in the case by the Law Office of Andrew S. Kryder LLC.
