A woman is suing, claiming a physical therapy company left equipment in a common area, which created a fall hazard.
Maria Disomma, as attorney-in-fact for Anna Garcia, filed a lawsuit Oct. 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Vitas Solutions Inc., doing business as Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, and Jamal Batteast, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Garcia lived in Oak Park Arms Retirement Community and Vitas provided physical therapy to many of the residents. Disomma claims Batteast, an employee of Vitas, left a therapy mat in the common area that Garcia tripped over, fracturing her right fibula.
The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Susan L. Novosad and Matthew P. D’Avanzo of Levin & Perconti.
