The City of Chicago and some of its police officers are facing a lawsuit by a man who claims he was wrongfully detained.
Jevon Robinson filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the City of Chicago and unknown Chicago police officers, citing excessive force, unlawful detention, failure to intervene, assault, battery and false detention.
According to the complaint, Robinson entered the Bank of America at 135 S. LaSalle St. in Chicago to make a deposit on Nov. 13, 2012, when he was forced to the ground by officers and handcuffed after he attempted to exit the bank.
The suit states the plaintiff allegedly matched the description of a bank robbery suspect, and the officers questioned him before determining he was not the suspect. Robinson claims police used excessive force that caused him injuries.
Robinson is seeking an unspecified amount in damages and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Lee & Fairman LLP.
