The family of a young boy who was left disabled for life following a series of more than two dozen surgeries, purportedly in an attempt to properly connect his esophagus to his stomach, has secured more than $30 million from the doctor and hospital the family alleged were responsible for what happened to the child.
The mother of Dillan Harris - a 13-month-old child killed in his stroller when a vehicle driven by a man fleeing from police jumped the curb, struck the stroller with the child inside it and then dragged the stroller and child into a nearby alley – has sued the driver of the vehicle, the city of Chicago and as many as 20 police officers, alleging the high-speed police chase through the neighborhood streets that claimed the life of her son should never have happened.
CHICAGO -- A man who allegedly suffered post-operative damage from a hernia operation is suing a doctor, his practice and an Arlington Heights hospital. Robert Surma and Margaret Surma filed a complaint on June 26 in Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. Richard Broderick, Surgical Neurology Associates Ltd. and Northwest Community Hospital.
