A Cook County woman has sued a feed manufacturing facility, alleging premises negligence.

Linda K. Lazoen filed a lawsuit June 2 in Cook County Circuit Court against Archer-Daniels-Midland Company Inc., also known by the names: ADM Animal Health & Nutrition; ADM Grain Company; ADM/LSI; LSI Unit of ADM Corn Processing Division; ADM Fasco; and ADM Fertilizer, in a 2013 accident.

According to the complaint, the defendant owns property at 4666 Faries Parkway in Decatur, and the property provided an access route for trucks to make deliveries. The suit says, on June 19, 2013, when Lazoen was making a delivery, she slipped and fell on “rotten, gooey corn” and other substances that made the walkway slippery.

The suit states Lazoen sustained permanent injuries and damages, including loss of income and earnings, medical expenses and prevention of attending to her usual affairs. The complaint cites the defendant for: breach of duty of ordinary care; failure to maintain a safe delivery area that would allow the safe travel of pedestrians; and failure to warn the plaintiff of the hazard.

Lazoen seeks damages in an amount deemed appropriate by the court, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Stephen Healy of Pappas & Healy in Chicago.

Cook County Circuit Court case number: 2015L0003566.
