A patient is suing her former long-term care facility after allegedly suffering injuries in a fall there.

Maria Christellis filed a lawsuit June 11 in Cook County Circuit Court against Petersen Health Care II Inc., also known as Watseka Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, alleging negligence and violation of the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, on March 1, 2014, Christellis, despite being considered a high risk for falling and needing assistance while walking, suffered a fall which broke her right pelvis and hip when attendants at Watseka Rehabilitation in Watseka failed to move her properly. As a result, the suit says, Christellis suffered permanent injuries, disability and disfigurement, pain and suffering, loss a normal, trauma and medical expense.

Christellis seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. She is represented by The Law Office of Andrew S. Kryder in Chicago.
