A man is suing a suburban Chicago bar, claiming he sustained serious injury after falling on broken glass.

Michael Miller filed a lawsuit Oct. 17 in Cook County Circuit Court against D. Nellie's Properties LLC, doing business as Durty Nellies, citing negligence and dram shop liability.

The complaint alleges that on Jan. 1, the plaintiff slipped and fell on broken glass that was on the floor at Durty Nellies in Palatine.

Miller states he suffered serious injuries to his right thumb and hand from the accident. The broken glass had been on the floor for at least an hour before the accident occurred, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimums. He is being represented in the case by Lake Zurich attorney Michael J. Salvi of Salvi, Salvi & Wifler PC.
