Local medical providers are being sued over claims a patient received inadequate medical care.

Arlene McKittrick filed a medical malpractice lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 18 against Rosen Medical Group LLC, Dr. Jeffrey Rosen and Dr. Marin Marinov.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants damaged her aorta while she was undergoing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy surgery on Aug. 28, 2012.

The complaint claims the defendants negligently damaged the plaintiff's aorta, failed to take proper precautions, failed to timely recognize the aorta was damaged, improperly used surgical instruments and performed surgery that was contraindicated, resulting in medical malpractice.

McKittrick is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. She is represented in the case by Chicago attorney John J. MacInerney of Hofeld and Schaffner.
