Danielle Dobias filed suit in the Cook County Circuit Court on Oct. 23 against Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200, Thomas Tarrant and John Stelzer over defamatory statements Tarrant allegedly made about her.

Dobias, who is represented by attorney Nicholas F. Esposito, claims Tarrant defamed her after she rejected his sexual advances.

According to her suit, Dobias was the assistant girls cross-country coach and Tarrant was the head coach at Oak Park and River Forest High School. Dobias allegedly complained to school officials in October 2012 that Tarrant had made an inappropriate and sexually harassing overtures to her.

Dobias claims that same month, Tarrant published a job evaluation document containing the lowest possible job appraisal rating regarding her position as assistant cross-country coach.

She is suing for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress, alleging she has suffered financial and professional loss. Dobias is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.
