Woman files lung cancer asbestos suit

A former warehouse worker allegedly developed lung cancer and died after repeated exposure to asbestos, according to a recently filed lawsuit.

Annie Bailey-Cure, as special administrator of the Estate of Gene A. Cure, filed the asbestos litigation Nov. 7 in Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co. and others.

The complaint states that from the 1960s until the 1970s, Gene Cure was exposed to asbestos containing products while working in various capacities including warehouse worker, laborer and foundry worker.

Bailey-Cure contends the defendants were negligent and knew or should have known that asbestos could cause injury or death. She alleges in the suit that asx a result of the asbestos exposure, Gene Cure developed lung cancer, which ultimately led to his death.

She is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional amount, plus costs. She is being represented by Lawrence R. Weisler of Cooney and Conway in Chicago.
