South Shore Iron Works Inc. sued for negligence

Mitchell friedman

A man is suing after he fell from the top of a load of beams he was trying to secure, claiming that the owner of a manufacturing plat failed to properly load the beams.

Julio C. Delgado filed a lawsuit Nov. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against South Shore Iron Works Inc., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, South Shore Iron Works operated a steel manufacturing plant at 407 W. 109th St. in Chicago. Delgado asserts he was working on Nov. 4 as a truck driver employed by G.D. Carriers and was assigned to pick up a trailer of steel beams at the defendant's plant.

He alleges that the defendant improperly loaded iron beams onto his flatbed trailer, which forced him to have to climb to the top of the load to secure it for hauling. The complaint states that while attempting to secure the load, Delgado fell and was injured as a result of the defendant's improper loading of the beams.

Delgado is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by Mitchell B. Friedman of Morici, Figlioli & Associates.
