A former teaching assistant is suing over claims that repeated exposure to asbestos resulted in her developing mesothelioma.

Susan Kay Hill filed the asbestos litigation complaint Dec. 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co. and other defendant companies.

The plaintiff alleges from 1974 until 2009, she worked in various capacities, including as a teacher's assistant, and was exposed to asbestos containing products, which caused her to develop mesothelioma.

According to the complaint, Hill was also exposed to asbestos through her husband. She claims the defendants were negligent and knew or should have known that asbestos could cause injury or death.

Hill is seeking an undisclosed amount and is being represented by Chicago attorney Matthew J. Adair of Cooney and Conway.
