Marathon Petroleum Co. sued for negligence

Berman

A worker is suing after a piece of scaffolding allegedly fell on him.

James Taylor filed a lawsuit Dec. 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Marathon Petroleum Co., citing negligence.

The complaint states the defendant owned an oil refinery at 400 S. Marathon Ave. in Robinson, and was in charge of the construction of certain buildings on the property.

Taylor asserts he was employed by Brand Scaffold and on the premises for the construction project. He claims while he was dismantling scaffolding, a piece of scaffolding fell on him, causing injuries.

He contends the defendant constructed, placed or caused to be erected, constructed or placed, certain scaffolding to facilitate construction and failed to provide him with a safe place to work.

Taylor is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit. He is being represented in the case by attorney Steven A. Berman at Anesi, Ozmon, Rodin, Novak & Kohen Ltd.
