A woman is suing, claiming that pain led to the discovery of a dental crown in her lung.
Grayzna Muszynska filed a lawsuit July 30 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Dr. David A. Lichtenwalter and his practice D. A. Lichtenwalter D.D.S. LTD.
According to the complaint, on April 24, 2006, Muszynska received dental treatment from Lichtenwalter, which included the removal of dental crowns. She claims Lichtenwalter allowed a crown to fall back into the her mouth, where it was aspirated into her lungs and failed to account for all the crowns after the procedure.
The lawsuit states Muszynska saw Dr. Ewa Jachinowicz on June 7, 2006 for pain symptoms dating back to that April and that a dental crown was found in her lungs at Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.
According to the complaint, a flexible bronchoscopy was performed June 9, 2006 failed to remove the crown and a rigid bronchoscopy performed a few days later led to complications and the eventual removal of part of the plaintiff's lung.
Muszynska is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Bradley Z. Schulman of Motherway & Napleton LLC.
