A drug manufacturer is facing another lawsuit over claims a prescription drug increases bladder cancer risk.

William Posadni filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in the Circuit Court of Cook County against  Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., Takeda Pharmaceutical U.S.A. Inc., formerly known as Takeda Pharmaceutical North America Inc., and Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. LTD, citing strict liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, Posadni was prescribed the medication Actos in 2003 and diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2013. He claims the defendants concealed knowledge and failed to warn consumers that Actos can cause bladder cancer when taken for more than 12 months.

He is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits and is being represented by Allen N. Schwartz of Kralovec, Jambois & Schwartz in Chicago and Monsour Law Firm in Longview, Tex.
