Cleaning service sued over woman's fall at department store

Marshalls

A woman is suing over injuries she claims she sustained after a slip and fall incident at a Marshalls department store.

Maria Arreola filed a lawsuit Aug. 20 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Commercial Contract Cleaning Inc. and US Maintenance Inc., doing business as USM Inc.

According to the complaint, Arreola slipped and fell on Aug. 28, 2011 on a wet floor at a Marshalls department store in Broadview where she was employed.

The plaintiff claims an employee of Commercial Contract Cleaning Inc. and US Maintenance Inc. was carrying out cleaning activities on the floor at the time of her fall. She accuses the defendant of failing to maintain safe pathways, leaving a wet floor unsafe and failing to give warning of unsafe conditions.

Arreola is seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She is being represented in the case by attorney Robert D. Fink of Collison Law Offices.
