A woman is suing Metra, claiming  she was injured while exiting a commuter train.

Adrianne Sonneborn filed a lawsuit July 29 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corporation, doing business as Metra, and Metropolitan Rail.

According to the complaint, Sonneborn was exiting a train on the Metra Electric District Line, also known as the South Shore Line, on July 30, 2012 when she was trapped between the closing train doors and forced to struggle free to avoid further injury.

She claims the defendant, through its employee, failed to operate the train in a safe manner, ensure doorways were clear and give due warning of the closing doors.

Sonneborn is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorneys Dean B. Chalmers and Jay C. Orseno of Chalmers & Nagel P.C.
