Jiffy Lube sued by customer who claims door hit her in head

Wanda Smith filed a lawsuit Oct. 15 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jiffy Lube No. 236 and Sy-Low Inc., doing business as Jiffy Lube, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Smith brought her vehicle to the defendant's garage at 8265 S. Chicago Ave. in Chicago for service Dec. 7, 2011. While on the premises, Smith claims she was injured when an overhead garage door closed and struck her in the head.

The incident caused Smith to be hospitalized and suffer injuries, the suit states.

Smith is seeking damages in excess of $50,000. She is being represented in the case by attorney John T. Cichon of Polansky & Cichon Chtd.
