Rehab center sued for alleged violations of the Nursing Home Care Act

A nursing home is facing suit over claims it violated the Nursing Home Care Act.

Carmen Hunter, as independent administrator of the Estate of Sophie Barnes, filed a lawsuit Dec. 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Lake Shore Healthcare & Rehabilitation Centre LLC, citing violations of the Nursing Home Care Act.

According to the complaint, Barnes was a resident at Lake Shore Healthcare & Rehabilitation Centre from April 7, 2011 until Feb. 4, 2012.

Hunter claims as a result of the defendant's negligence, Barnes suffered dehydration, development of pressures sores and malnutrition, injuries that allegedly led to her Feb. 5, 2012 death.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by Charles V. Falkenberg III of Karlin, Fleisher & Falkenberg LLC.
