A laborer is suing ComEd, claiming he was injured by electrical lines.

William Jimenez filed a lawsuit Dec. 10 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Commonwealth Edison Co., citing negligence.

According to the complaint, ComEd retained Meade Electric Co. to perform work on underground lines at Morgan and Harrison streets in Chicago. Jiminez claims he was employed by Meade and working on the lines on Nov. 5 when an electrical fault occurred, causing him to sustain injury.

He further alleges that the defendant negligently allowed him to work on the lines that were susceptible to faulting, failed to determine if the lines were safe and failed to perform tests to determine if they were susceptible to faulting or safe.

Jimenez is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented in the case by Edward G. Willer of Corboy & Demetrio PC.
