A University Park resident is suing, claiming her daughter was sexually assaulted by an employee of a home improvement company.

Shalondra Guyton, as mother and next friend of a minor girl, filed a lawsuit Nov. 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Parliament Builders Inc., citing respondeat superior, willful and wanton conduct and negligent supervision, hiring and retention.

According to the complaint, Alberto Guzman was an employee of the defendant  and was working inside the plaintiff's home on July 26, 2012, when he sexually assaulted the girl. The suit states Guzman was charged and pled guilty to attempted and aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Guyton further alleges that Guzman was an undocumented worker and/or an unauthorized alien with respect to employment and as such, Parliament Builders was not legally permitted to hire him.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented in the case by the Law Office of Jeffrey Friedman P.C.
