Chicago hotel sued over elevator malfunction

A Chicago hotel guest is suing over claims she was injured on an elevator.

Sara Wiese filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in the Cook County District Court against Kokua Hospitality LLC, doing business as Doubletree by Hilton Chicago Magnificent Mile, citing negligence.

Wiese claims she suffered injuries on Feb. 10, 2012,when the elevator at the defendant's hotel, 300 E. Ohio St. in Chicago, failed to work properly.

According to the suit, Wiese was on the 12th floor when the elevator suddenly dropped approximately six floors and came to a sudden stop, before returning to the 12th floor, causing her serious neck and back injuries.

Wiese is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented in the case by attorney Matthew C. Friedman of Friedman & Bonebrake P.C.
