A woman is suing over claims a nursing home's negligence caused serious injuries to family member.
Nancy Kaiser, as attorney-in-fact for James Kaiser, filed a lawsuit Feb. 19 in the Cook County District Court against Presence RHC Senior Services Corp., doing business as Presence Ballard Nursing Center, citing negligence.
The suit states James was a resident at the defendant's facility from Nov. 29, 2012 until Dec. 29, 2012 and required supervision and extensive assistance due to medical conditions.
As a result of the defendant's negligent care, Kaiser claims James developed a pressure ulcer on his left heel that became infected with gangrene, resulting in amputation of his left leg on April 10, 2013.
Kaiser is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, attorneys' fees and court costs. She is being represented by Chicago attorneys Michael F. Bonamarte and Eva C. Sosnowska of Levin & Perconti.
