A woman is suing a physician and a medical facility, claiming they provided negligent care by failing to recognize the signs of her husband's stroke.
Cynthia Allen, as guardian of the estate of Michael Griffin, filed a lawsuit Feb.19 in the Cook County District Court against Loyola University Medical Center, Trinity Health Corp. and Dr. Tiffany Priebe, citing medical malpractice and loss of consortium.
The suit also names Dr. William Cannon as a respondent in discovery to give information that could determine if anyone else should be named as a defendant.
Allen claims Griffin was cared for and treated by the defendants on June 29, 2004, when he went to the emergency room for vertigo symptoms. The suit alleges the defendants failed to recognize symptoms and warning signs of stroke that Griffin had been exhibiting, resulting in injuries.
The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 from each defendant and court costs. She is being represented by attorneys at Susan E. Loggans Associates P.C.
