A Cook County man is suing over claims he was unnecessarily restrained and injured by employees of Cadillac Ranch and Village of Bartlett police officers.

Johnny A. Ruffalo filed a lawsuit Feb. 28 in the Cook County District Court against the Village of Bartlett, Cadillac Ranch Texas BBQ and Boot Bar Inc., doing business as Cadillac Ranch, citing civil rights, battery, negligence and violation of the Illinois Dram Shop Act.

Ruffalo claims he was assaulted by police officers on May 15 when he was at  Cadillac Ranch at 1175 W. Lake St. in Bartlett. According to the suit, patrons of the tavern became disorderly, resulting in bar employees trying to take control of the situation with violence.

The suit alleges police officers entered the bar and forcibly pushed and twisted Ruffalo without cause, injuring him to the point of needing medical attention.

Ruffalo is seeking damages in excess of $30,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Chicago attorney Corey E. Meyer of Law Offices of Meyer & Blumenshine.
