A woman is suing over claims she sustained injuries as a result of a kinked carpet at an Elk Grove hospital.

Kathleen Kott filed a lawsuit March 14 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Alexian Brothers Health System, citing negligence.

According to the suit, Kott suffered injuries on July 27, 2012, when she tripped on carpet and fell down at the hospital at 800 Biesterfield Road in Elk Grove. Kott claims the defendant did not maintain the carpet runner, which resulted in the carpet not laying flat.

The suit alleges that as a result of Kott tripping over the kinked carpet, she fell and sustained several injuries, including shock to her nervous system, bruises, contusion and lacerations to her body.

Kott is seeking damages in excess of $30,000 and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Rosemont attorney Gary W. Klages of Law Office of Daniel E. Goodman LLC.
