Lexington of Orland Park nursing home named in wrongful death suit

Michael eisenberg

The estate of a deceased man is suing an Orland Park nursing home, alleging that its negligence led to his death.

Myra Jeffries, as independent administrator of the Estate of Morris Luckey, filed a lawsuit March 25 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Lexington Health Care Center of Orland Park Inc., doing business as Lexington of Orland Park, citing negligence and the state's survival and wrongful death acts.

According to the complaint, Luckey was a resident of the defendant's facility at 14601 S. John Humphrey Drive in Orland Park. Jeffries claims the nursing home's negligence caused Luckey to become dehydrated and develop colitis due to antibiotic usage.

She further alleges that these circumstances resulted in Luckey's physical deterioration and untimely death.

Jeffries is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, attorney's fees and court costs. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Michael J. Eisenberg of The Law Offices of Steven J. Malman.
