H.B. Fuller Co., dozens of others face another asbestos suit

A former auto mechanic is suing over claims his lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos containing products.

Ronald J. Gatewood filed a lawsuit April 29 in the Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co., Crane Co., H.B. Fuller Co. and dozens of other companies, citing asbestos litigation.

According to the complaint, Gatewood was exposed to asbestos from 1954 to 1982 through products he used in his employment, including as an auto mechanic, and in  non-occupational projects, and was subsequently diagnosed with lung cancer.

He accuses the defendants of manufacturing, distributing, or selling products containing asbestos when the dangers of asbestos were known.

Gatewood is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limits, plus costs, is being represented in the case by attorney Michael T. Egan of Cooney & Conway.
