River North nightclub hit with suit by patron who claims security guards punched, kicked him

Bodi

A patron of Bodi nightclub is suing over allegations security guards assaulted him.

John Mzumara filed a lawsuit April 29 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Top Chach LLC, doing business as Bodi, citing assault and battery.

Mzumara claims he was a patron of the nightclub at 873 N. Orleans St. in Chicago on Jan. 12, when the defendant's security personnel assaulted him. According to the suit, Mzumara tried to enter the lower level of the club, but was stopped by a security personnel who denied him access.

He contends the club's security personnel expressed their annoyance with him and then punched and kicked him. The suit accuses the defendant of being negligent in its hiring and training of its employees.

Mzumara is suing for damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Chicago attorneys Daniel J. McDevitt and Ronald W. Cobb of Law Offices of Dwyer & McDevitt.
