A woman is suing the owner of an 85-pound dog she claims attacked her son while playing in a park in Sauk Village.

Tamila McDade, individually and for her son, filed a lawsuit May 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against James Anderson, citing negligence, the state's Animal Control Act.

McDade claims her son suffered sever injuries and disfigurement on July 31, when Anderson's Akita dog attacked him while was playing at a public park at 1635 216th St. in Sauk Village.

According to the suit, McDade's son didn't provoke the dog in any way when it attacked him. She claims her son's injuries required medical attention and will continue to incur medical expenses as a result of the incident.

McDade is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented by Waukegan attorney Matthew L. Williams and Andrew J. Burkavage of Salvi, Schostok and Pritchard P.C.
