Babysitter accuses employers of negligence over slip and fall on stairs

An Illinois woman is suing the parents of children she was babysitting, claiming she injured her hand after falling on their stairs.

Kasia Pietrzak filed a lawsuit May 7 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Nicholas and Gia Dizonno, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, Pietrzak was employed by the Dizonnos to babysit their children March 21, 2013, when she took a glass bottle to the garage, slipped on the stairs and injured her hand.

Pietrzak claims she was transported to Alexian Brothers Hospital and underwent surgery to her hand on April 2, 2013 and March 4, 2014. She accuses the Dizonnos of negligence.

Pietrzak is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional minimum and is being represented in the case by attorneys David A. Novoselsky and Jonathan P. Novoselsky.
