A man is suing dozens of companies, claiming he contracted lung cancer through the use of asbestos-related products.

Harold W. Harris filed a lawsuit May 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court against A.W. Chesterton Co., Georgia-Pacific LLC, General Electric Co. and dozens of others.

According to the complaint, Harris was diagnosed with lung cancer Nov. 15, 2012, and subsequently learned it was caused by asbestos exposure in his employment as a bricklayer and custodian, as well as in non-occupational projects through the use of products manufactured, sold and marketed by the defendants.

Harris is seeking damages in excess of the jurisdictional limit, plus costs and is being represented in the case by attorney Matthew J. Adair of Cooney & Conway.
