A Cook County couple is suing the former owners of its home and an inspector over claims they failed to disclose flooding damage.

Irene Dehghan-Paz and Roberto Lopez-Tamayo filed a lawsuit May 16 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Victor and Adelina Golemi and John Rodriguez, individually and doing business as 'Maximum Home Inspections,' alleging fraud, negligence and violations of property disclosure rules.

According to the suit,the plaintiffs claim they entered into an agreement to purchase a property on North Honore Street in Chicago for $530,000 on July 29. The plaintiffs claim the defendants failed to disclose flooding issues on the property that affected the structure of the home and made it unsafe to live in without making substantial repairs.

The plaintiffs allege they have had to spend more than $50,000 to repair the damages done to the home caused by flooding.

They are asking the court to enter a decree and judgment award in their favor, actual damages, attorney's fees and court costs. They are being represented by Chicago attorney Joanne M. Denison of Denison & Associates P.C.
