Man files suit against city over sidewalk fall outside Board of Trade

A man is suing the City of Chicago, the Board of Trade and two other companies, claiming he tripped on a sidewalk outside a Jackson Boulevard building.

Shahe Alexanian filed suit May 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against MF Global Inc., the Board of Trade of the City of Chicago Inc., Glenstar Asset Management LLC and the City of Chicago.

According to the suit, Alexanian was walking on the sidewalk on property owned by the defendants at 141 W. Jackson Blvd. on July 22, when he tripped and fell on the sidewalk.

Alexanian claims he suffered severe and permanent injuries as a result of the fall. He accuses the defendants of failing to provide a safe walkway for pedestrians, inspect the premises and warn of the sidewalk's unsafe condition.

Alexanian is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is represented by attorney David E. Gilbreth of Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy Ltd.
