Woman claims she slipped on puddle in Evanston Target

Target

Target is facing a lawsuit from a customer who alleges she slipped in a puddle of water at the retail giant's Evanston store.

Janet Darmo filed suit May 27 in Cook County Circuit Court against Target Corp.

According to the suit, Darmo was walking down the dollar aisle at the Target at 2209 Howard St. in Evanston, on June 7, 2012, when she slipped and fell on a puddle of water. As a result of the incident, Darmo claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries and will be hindered from performing her normal duties.

She accuses Target of carelessly maintaining the store premises, allowing the premises to exist in a defective condition and failing to warn customers of the hazardous condition.

Darmo is seeking damages greater than $50,000 and is being represented by attorney Robert A. Langendorf.
