Hoffman Estates man faces suit over alleged dog escape, attack

A woman is suing the owner of a dog she claims attacked her, after escaping from a Hoffman Estates yard.

Maureen Knipp filed a lawsuit June 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Christopher Kaplinski, alleging negligence and violations of the Illinois Animal Control Act.

According to the complaint, Kaplinski's dog escaped from his yard on Fremont Road in the Hoffman Estates on Oct. 28 and attacked Knipp.

Knipp is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney David E. Gilbreth of Costello, McMahon, Burke & Murphy Ltd.
