Hutch delivery, drop leads to suit against Walter E. Smithe Furniture, Valles Delivery Service

Frost

A Cook County man is suing over claims he was injured when deliverymen delivered a previously purchased hutch to his residence.

Robert A. Scigalski filed a lawsuit June 2 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Walter E. Smithe Furniture Inc. and Valles Delivery Service Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Valles Delivery Service employees delivered a china buffet and hutch to Scigalski on Aug. 5 that he had bought from Walter E. Smithe Furniture's Arlington Heights store.

Scigalski claims the deliverymen dropped the hutch, forcing him to attempt to stop it in order to protect himself and another person, which resulted in a ruptured right bicep tendon that required surgical repair.

Scigalski is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Michael J. Frost of Vinkler McArdle & Frost.
