Man claims he fell 10 feet because stairwell didn't have handrails

A man is suing a Cicero property owner over claims he was injured on a stairwell that didn't have a handrail.

Ramiro Calderon filed a lawsuit May 22 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Jubica Vasilevski, citing premises liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, Calderon was using a newly-installed stairwell without handrails on Vasilevski's property on South 57th Court in Cicero on July 28, 2012, when he fell approximately 10 feet to the ground below and sustained injuries.

Calderon is seeking more than $30,000 in damages and is being represented by attorney Cary J. Wintroub of Carey J. Wintroub & Associates.
