Transit worker lodges suit against manufacturer of scaffold he alleges collapsed

A man is suing a scaffold manufacturer, claiming he sustained injuries using its product while working for the Chicago Transit Authority.

Calvin Jones filed a lawsuit May 20 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Werner Co., citing strict liability and negligence.

The lawsuit states Jones was using the scaffold for support while working for the CTA on May 1, 2012, when the scaffold collapsed.

Jones is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Charles E. Webster of Brustin & Lundblad Ltd.
