A Fox Lake man is suing over allegations he was injured by the negligence of a Metra employee.

Robert Hoffman filed a lawsuit June 3 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp., doing business as Metra.

According to the complaint, Hoffman had stopped to talk with an acquaintance at the Fox Lake Metra station June 8, 2013, when a Metra employee stepped backwards without looking and knocked him down. Hoffman says he sustained a hip injury and accuses Metra of negligence and vicarious liability.

Hoffman is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Matthew J. Coleman of Ridge & Downes.
