A utility company is suing over claims a truck driver for Coca-Cola damaged one of its poles.

Commonwealth Edison Co. filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against William Mentink and Coca-Cola Refreshments USA, Inc., citing property damage.

According to the complaint, Mentink was driving a truck in his employment with Coca-Cola on May 21, 2012, when the truck collided with overhead wires in Burbank and caused a ComEd utility pole to break at the base and fall.

ComEd, which accuses the defendants of negligence, is seeking more than $48,000 in damages. It is being represented in the case by attorney Harry L. Dubnick.
