Mother claims her son's finger was severed at Oak Forest Health Center

The mother of a minor boy who allegedly severed a finger while waiting on a doctor is suing the county and the facility.

The boy, through his mother Cherise Davis, filed a lawsuit May 20 in the Cook County Circuit Court against the Cook County and Oak Forest Health Center of Cook County.

The lawsuit states Davis' son went to the center, which was in an elementary school at 7736 S. Burnham Ave. in Chicago, to see a doctor on April 23, when a table fell on his hand and severed his finger.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and is being represented by Jesse R. Tyler of the Tyler Law Offices.
