Two Cook County property owners are being sued over claims they failed to safely maintain the stairway on their property.

Rosario Lopez filed a lawsuit May 23 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Guillermo Guzman and Martha Guzman, citing negligence.

Lopez claims she suffered injuries when she slipped and fell down the defendant's property in Maywood on June 6, 2012. According to the suit, the stairway was not properly cared for or lit, causing Lopez to fall and sustain serious injuries.

Lopez is seeking damages in excess of $30,000, as well as court costs, and is being represented in the case by Cicero attorney Andrew Fink of Solis Law Firm PC.
