A Cook County company that provides visa services is suing its Russian partner, claiming he hacked into its website to redirect business and divert payments to him.
ASAPVS Inc. filed a lawsuit June 5 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Alexander Golubev, alleging tortious interference with contract and prospective business relations.
According to the suit, Golubev's company in Moscow provided visa services to ASAPVS for their customers' travel to Russia from 2010 until April 2012, when it abruptly stopped providing those services.
At that time, the suit alleges, Golubev hijacked ASAPVS' website, taking payment for orders customers then expected the plaintiff to fulfill. ASAPVS asserts that in order to preserve its reputation, it was forced to fill orders Golubev took payment for.
ASAPVS is seeking more than $38,000 in compensatory damages for interference with contract, $124,000 for interference in business relations, $30,000 for conversion and more than $100,000 in punitive damages.
