A Vernon Hills woman is suing her former condominium association and others, claiming they refused to fix a leak and remove mold growth that caused her to move out.

Corinna Marliss filed a lawsuit June 9 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Hughes Management and Consulting Corp., Frenchmen's Cove Property Owners' Association, Frenchmen's Cove Condominium Building A and Della Tomasello.

According to the suit, Marliss' condo in Frenchmen's Cove at 3350 Carriageway Drive No. 118 in Arlington Heights had a water leak that caused mold to grow. She alleges she had an HVAC technician inspect her condo after noticing an odor and he discovered water leaking into her unit from the condo above.

Marliss claims she informed the defendants of the leak and mold growth, but they refused to take any corrective action. The suit states as a result of the defendants' negligence, Marliss suffered respiratory issues, illness and was diagnosed with mold sensitivities, forcing her to move out of her condo and into a hotel.

Marliss is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented in the case by Naperville attorney Aaron W. Rapier of The Collins Law Firm P.C.
