Woman hits Midas with premises liability claim

Midas is facing a lawsuit from a woman who claims she was injured after tripping on a loose grate at one of its Chicago locations.

Shulunda McGinnis filed a lawsuit June 12 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Midas, Midas International Corp., and Lexington Purni Automotive Systems Inc. and Lexington Purni Automotive, both doing business as Midas, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, McGinnis was a customer at the Midas on South Cottage Grove in Chicago on Aug. 25, 2012, when she tripped on a loose grate and sustained injuries. The defendants are accused of failing to maintain the premises.

McGinnis is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is being represented in the case by attorney Joseph M. Scrementi of The Vrdolyak Law Group LLC in Chicago.
