The mother of a young boy is suing the village of Matteson and others, claiming her son was injured after falling outside a community center.

Jo-Lynne Carter, individually and as parent of the minor boy, filed a lawsuit June 6 in the Cook County Circuit Court against Courtology Institute Inc., Donell Ausley and the Village of Matteson, alleging negligence.

According to the suit, Carter's son suffered injuries on July 15, when he tripped and fell down while walking out of the village's community center at 20642 Matteson Ave.

Carter claims her son was leaving basketball summer camp at the community center when he was pushed into an exposed bolt sticking out of an exhaust pole near the exit, causing injury to his head and face.

The suit, which includes a count under the Family Expense Act, alleges Carter spent great sums of money for her son's medical expenses stemming from the incident.

Carter is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. She is being represented by Chicago attorney Charles R. Culbertson of Rubin, Machado & Rosenblum Ltd.
