ComEd sues plumbing company over damage to underground utilities; seeks $100K-plus

A plumbing company is being sued over claims an excavation led to damaged utility wires.

Commonwealth Edison Co. filed suit June 2 against Larry's Plumbing Company Inc., seeking $108,159.52 in damages.

According to the complaint, the defendant was excavating on South Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago on July 19, when it damaged ComEd's underground utility facilities.

ComEd claims Larry's Plumbing was negligent by disregarding information the plaintiff gave about its underground utility facilities and violated the Illinois Underground Utility Facilities Damage Prevention Act.
