Magnuson Hotel owner bit with suit over bed bugs

A woman is suing the owner of a Calumet Park hotel, claiming she was bitten by insects during her stay.

Bridget Flowers filed a lawsuit May 22 in Cook County Circuit Court against Anjco 2 LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Flowers was staying at the Magnuson Hotel, owned by the defendant, on Feb. 14. During her stay at the hotel, located at 12800 S. Ashland Ave. in Calumet Park, Flowers claims she slept in the room's bed and woke up to find her body covered in red marks.

After searching the room, the suit states she discovered it was infested by insects. Flowers asserts she later consulted a physician, who told her the insect bites came from bed bugs.

The suit accuses the defendant should have known about the infestation and was negligent in allowing the bed bugs to survive in the hotel.

Flowers is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and is represented in the case by attorney Alexander McHenry Memmen of Memmen Law Firm LLC.
